Despite working for much of his career in fine restaurants in France and Switzerland, Andy Waters is a local boy, born and bred, now living in Bromsgrove with wife Beverley and two children.

Andy’s passion for food first stemmed from being around his mother who was confectioner.  At a young age he began his training at Halesowen Food College, quickly progressing to working in many highly respected restaurants, through all departments in order to gain an all round knowledge of the kitchen.

Andy’s career path has included working in five star restaurants throughout Europe, most famously for Paul Bocuse in Lyon, an experience Andy recognises as one of the highlights of his young career.

Head Chef at the Bay Tree Restaurant in Harborne, Andy decided it was time to venture out on his own. With the support of his family, Edmunds Restaurant first opened in 2002 in the Warwickshire town of Henley in Arden; Andy naming the restaurant after his late father, a great support to him throughout his career.

Andy’s approach to cooking soon attracted national interest resulting in the awarding of a coveted Michelin star within 6 months of opening and being named as Hardens' restaurant of the year, an award sponsored by Remy Martin.

The relocation of Edmunds to Brindleyplace came in 2008.  When asked the reason for the move, Andy’s comments are honest stating, “we decided to relocate purely for business reasons and although we loved the restaurant in Henley and were greatly missed, it was time for a change.  Brindleyplace is such an attractive location for a restaurant as it’s central and fast moving.  In the past few years Birmingham has had a real influx of life so it is great to be associated with the second city."

Since the move, Edmunds has again been highly praised, consistently receiving five star reviews from both food critics and diners.  In 2010 Edmunds was voted a Sunday Times top 100 UK restaurant and more recently has been named The Good Food Guide Midlands Restaurant of the Year for 2012.
